Gabriel Pena

I’m Gabe Pena, a Project Superintendent at RMCI. I’ve been with RMCI for 21 years and am responsible for the management of project construction. This includes the coordination of workloads to meet the contract schedule, management of site personnel, ensuring safety program compliance, and communicating with project managers and on-site personnel. I am also a member of the Mental Health Champions team to help ensure the safety, mental health, and welfare of all employees.

Amanda Meraz

I am the HR Associate for RMCI located in New Mexico and I am certified in Mental Health First Aid. I started at RMCI in January 2016 and have now been part of Nox Group since October of 2023. I am taking action to raise awareness of mental health and fight the stigma that surrounds it. We work in a very demanding industry both mentally and physically that can be very rewarding but with that comes challenging projects, difficult clients, and resource constraints to complete them. Matthew Unger

Throughout 27 years in construction and mining I have worked on a multitude of varying projects and was an ERT (First Responder) while spending 3 years in mining with Freeport). I have been with Corbins since August 2022 and have had the opportunity to work on multiple projects with some amazing teams and employees. I have experienced addiction and mental health crises both firsthand and with numerous family and friends. I have been an electrician for the last 10 years and licensed in the state of Texas. I have the pleasure to say I have been with Corbin’s over one year and I am currently a Foreman. Personally, I have had mental health crises dealing with depression and the loss of family members. The construction industry can be a very high pace and demanding environment where we apply our mental and physical limitations daily. At times it feels like we do the same thing day in and day out, but the point is it’s a new day when we begin. The mental choices we make are “choices” and that’s what we need to understand. Through my own life experience, and with the mental health first aid program, I can say that I will help or get the help and support anyone needs. Sometimes we as a community we think help is out of reach, but rest assure that I will always be already reaching out and waiting for you, because you matter.
